Manchester United is looking to sign players in the upcoming transfer window with the objective of strengthening their attacking department. The sudden departure of Cristiano Ronaldo has left Manchester United with fewer attacking options hence they are keen on bringing on board reinforcements who can make a difference for Erik Ten Hag’s team.
The Premier League giants have set their sights on winning trophies by the end of the season hence they would require additional signings who would add more value to United’s current squad.
Benfica star Goncalo Ramos is being monitored by Manchester United
With Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure, Manchester United is proactively monitoring different strikers who they can sign as the 5 time Ballon d’Or winners replacement.
One of the strikers on the club’s radar is Goncalo Ramos, the 21-year-old who has caught the attention of many top clubs in Europe as he bagged a stunning hat-trick against Switzerland in the Round of 16. The Portuguese international had started for Portugal ahead of Ronaldo while this decision raised a lot of questions Ramos’s performance on the pitch was a perfect answer to the questions raised as he racked up 3 goals and an assist against the Swiss.
Ramos not only helped Portugal register a crucial win against Switzerland but also broke several records along the way which includes becoming the first player after Miroslav Klose to score a hattrick on his first start. Despite having an immediate impact on the international stage Ramos has so far had a very impressive domestic season as well as he has bagged 14 goals in 21 appearances for Benfica in all competitions.
Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have been used in a center-forward role at times however the club is desperately looking to land an orthodox No 9 striker. According to Fabrizio Romano who spoke exclusively to Caughtoffside Manchester United have sent scouts to watch the Benfica striker.
The Premier League giants see Ramos as a perfect No 9 who can add value to the current squad however plotting an audacious move for the star could be difficult as they will face stiff competition from other top European clubs as well who will be eager to grab his signature. It will be interesting to see where he ends up as the transfer race for the wanted striker could heat up as more clubs express their interest to sign him.
Erik ten Hag eager for Jadon Sancho revival, says Pete O’Rourke
Red Devil’s manager Erik ten Hag is determined to help Jadon Sancho rediscover his form according to Pete O’Rourke.
The former Borrusia Dortmund player was snapped up by Manchester United in 2021 as they were looking to add more teeth to their attack, while the move garnered a lot of attention and hype the English international failed to live up to the expectations set. Under Erik ten Hag the 22-year-old is still struggling to find his form.
Despite a rough start to the season the Dutch manager thinks highly of Sancho and wants to help him in rediscovering his form. Speaking to Give Me Sport, O’Rourke said that it’s too early to write Sancho off.
“I think all the onus is on Jadon Sancho to get back to his best form and prove to Erik ten Hag that he deserves a place in that Manchester United team. It’s too early to write him off just yet because he is still a player with huge potential. I’m sure ten Hag would be desperate to see the best of Jadon Sancho as soon as possible,” said O’Rourke.
The English international has so far made 54 appearances for the red devils where he has found the back of the net 8 times and has registered 4 assists. Sancho will be eager to rediscover his form as he looks to establish a permanent place in the starting eleven as well as make it to the national team.
