The Minnesota Vikings have had some up-and-down injury news over the past week, but Wednesday’s first injury report of Week 13 continued largely positive news. 4 players appear on the first Vikings injury report, and only Christian Darrisaw sat out the practice entirely. Here’s the full list of players:

  • LT Christian Darrisaw- DNP (concussion)
  • CB Akayleb Evans- Full Participant (concussion)
  • S Harrison Smith- Limited (ankle)
  • DE Dalvin Tomlinson- Full Participant (calf)

If this injury report is any indication for this weekend, it appears the Vikings defense is beginning to get healthier, despite losing rookie Andrew Booth for the rest of the season. Both Akayleb Evans and Dalvin Tomlinson were full participants in Wednesday’s padded practice, so that’s a great sign for them moving into the weekend.

Additionally, Za’Darius Smith is notably absent from this injury report, which may suggest that his knee is getting better as well.

Another terrific sign for the Vikings, this time on the offensive side of the ball, is the fact that Justin Jefferson doesn’t appear on this injury report with his turf toe. The injury hasn’t exactly hindered him over the past couple of weeks, but it should provide piece of mind that the injury seems to be behind him at this point.

Of course, Harrison Smith being on the report is somewhat concerning given his stabilizing role on the Vikings defense, but he at least was able to participate at some compacity. Christian Darrisaw looks like he’s on track to miss another game due to his concussion, but of course, the Vikings should make sure he is fully healthy before running him back out.

As for Minnesota’s opponents, the New York Jets, their injury report is longer with multiple players missing Wednesday’s practice. Here’s their full list of injuries for Wednesday:

  • RB Michael Carter- DNP (ankle)
  • S Ashtyn Davis- DNP (hamstring)
  • OT Cedric Ogbuehl- DNP (groin/illness)
  • CB D.J. Reed- DNP (non-injury)
  • OT Duane Brown- Limited (shoulder)
  • TE Kenny Yeboah- Limited (calf)
  • NT Sheldon Rankins- Limited (elbow)

Obviously, the biggest note to take away here is the fact that both of New York’s offensive tackles that have started over the past few weeks are on this report. Cedric Ogbuehl did not participate on Wednesday, and Duane Brown was limited.

This could be important as the Vikings try to establish a strong pass rush with Danielle Hunter and the aforementioned Smith.

As more news comes out over the remainder of the week regarding the two teams’ injuries, you can be sure that we’ll have the updates here.
